Alternergy Expands Portfolio with Acquisition of Two Wind Projects in Quezon

MANILA – Alternergy Holding Corporation has acquired two wind energy projects in Quezon province with a combined potential capacity of 331.2 megawatts (MW), further strengthening its renewable energy pipeline.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) on Monday, Alternergy said its special purpose company, Calavite Passage Wind Power Corporation, signed a Deed of Assignment with CleanTech Global Renewables Inc. to acquire the Tayabas North Wind Energy and Tayabas South Wind Energy projects.

According to the Department of Energy (DOE), both projects are in the pre-development stage and are included in the agency’s 4th Green Energy Auction (GEA) as of April 30, 2025. The Tayabas North project is projected at 144 MW, while the Tayabas South project has a potential of 187.2 MW.

As of Sept. 5, DOE listed Tayabas North with a 96 MW capacity under its preliminary roster of accepted bids.

Alternergy president Gerry Magbanua said the new ventures align with the company’s goal of building its next wave of projects after reaching 500 MW capacity.

“We are excited to develop our second wind project in Quezon Province after our 64 MW Alabat Wind Project is completed in early 2026,” Magbanua said.

CleanTech CEO Salvador Antonio Castro Jr. noted that his company will retain an equity stake and may co-invest in the projects.

“We look forward to co-developing these wind projects with Alternergy, the pioneer in wind energy in the country,” Castro said.
