SSS Launches EMV-Enabled MySSS Card as New ID, Debit Account

MANILA – The Social Security System (SSS) has started accepting applications for the new MySSS Card, which serves both as an official identification card and a fully functional debit card.

SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Joseph Montes De Claro said the MySSS Card, launched on Sept. 8, will replace the Unified Multi-Purpose Identification (UMID) card. Equipped with an EMV chip, it is integrated with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) eVerify and biometric authentication for secure transactions.

The card can be used to receive SSS benefits and loans, while also functioning for shopping, online purchases, and public transport fares. It will be issued exclusively through SSS partner banks, starting with Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) through its digital arm, DiskarTech. Other banks, including Asia United Bank (AUB), China Bank, and Union Bank, will soon follow.

De Claro said the MySSS Card will automatically serve as members’ disbursement account. “Once members apply for the MySSS Card, their partner bank savings accounts will be linked to SSS for benefits, loans, and other proceeds. They no longer need to enroll the card in the Disbursement Account Enrollment Module (DAEM),” he explained.

The card is available to all SSS members, pensioners, beneficiaries, claimants, and representative payees with a permanent SSS number, an active My.SSS Portal account with updated details, and a PhilSys National ID registration. Applications can be filed via My.SSS, with members choosing their partner bank and consenting to data sharing between SSS, PhilSys, and the bank.

Once verified, members can open a savings account online or through a branch. For RCBC, applications will be processed via the DiskarTech app, with the bank handling production and distribution of the cards. Delivery takes 15 working days within Metro Manila and 20 working days for areas outside the capital.

“The MySSS Card’s rollout with RCBC marks a milestone in the digital transformation of government services. As more partner banks join, members will have wider options for issuance and added features,” De Claro said.
