Arcilla Routs Iglupas, Advances to PCA Open 3rd Round

MANILA – Veteran tennis star Johnny Arcilla kept his title bid alive at the 42nd Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) Open Tennis Championships, cruising past Miguel Iglupas, 6-3, 6-0, on Tuesday at the PCA indoor shell court in Paco, Manila.

Arcilla, who is gunning for a record 11th PCA crown, will next face Ronard Joven, who advanced with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Lucien Jay Caiman.

Top seed and defending champion Albert Lim Jr. also moved forward, blanking Mark Anthony Alcoseba, 6-0, 6-0, to set up a clash with Eric Jay Tangub, a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Al Tristan Licayan.

Second seed Jed Olivarez dominated qualifier Sebastian Santos, 6-2, 6-0, and will next meet Josshua Kinaadman, who ousted Noel Damian, 6-2, 6-1.

Thailand’s Tanakorn Srirat and fellow wild card Iggy Pantino also secured spots in the third round, along with James Aquino, Elbert Anasta, Fritz Verdad, Alexis Acabo, Nilo Ledama, Lance Jacob Fernandez, Marco Macalintal, and John Benedict Aguilar.
