Grospe Breaks Own National Mark at Philippine Open

CAPAS, Tarlac — Leonard Grospe established a new Philippine record in the men's high jump after clearing 2.23 meters during the ICTSI Philippine Open at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium on Friday night.

The achievement surpassed his previous national mark of 2.22 meters, which he set during the NCAA Season 101 athletics competition at the same venue on May 5. The 2025 Southeast Asian Games bronze medalist said he was pleased with the milestone, noting that his jump matched the winning height recorded at last month's Asian Jumps competition in Chongqing, China.

In other events, Paris Olympian Lauren Hoffman captured the women's 100-meter hurdles title with a time of 13.55 seconds. Defending Southeast Asian Games champion Dina Aulia finished second in 13.63 seconds, while Army standout Jelly Diane Paragile secured third place in 14.16 seconds.

Clinton Kingsley Bautista successfully defended his men's 110-meter hurdles crown, crossing the finish line in 14.26 seconds. He was followed by teammate Tochukwu Okolo (14.43) and Papua New Guinea's Robert Oa (14.51).

Fil-Am athlete Gabe Borado topped the men's 400-meter hurdles with a winning time of 47.05 seconds. Mico del Prado claimed the silver medal in 47.29 seconds, while Francis Patanpatan settled for bronze in 47.79 seconds.

Meanwhile, Fil-Am thrower Amanda Javellana dominated the women's hammer throw competition with a best effort of 51.12 meters.
