DOST, BICUTAN, TAGUIG, PHILIPPINES (MAY 15, 2026) The future of Philippine agriculture is taking a bold and innovative leap forward as the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and BB 88 Advertising and Digital Solutions Inc. (BB 88 Solutions) convened a high-level collaboration meeting aimed at strengthening the nation’s Climate-Smart Agriculture Program — a transformative initiative focused on building resilient, sustainable, technology-driven, and productive agricultural systems for Filipino communities.
The collaboration highlights the growing national
effort to modernize agriculture, improve food security, and inspire a new
generation of Filipinos to rediscover agriculture as a profession of
innovation, opportunity, and nation-building.
Leading the meeting was Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr.,
together with key officials from DOST, who emphasized the urgency of developing
climate-resilient agricultural systems amid global environmental and economic
challenges. Discussions centered on how modern technologies and community-based
innovations can empower farmers, strengthen local food production, and restore
confidence among Filipino youth and adults in the agricultural sector.
Representing BB 88 Advertising and Digital
Solutions Inc. was Henry V. Bayubay, the visionary innovator behind the BC
AGRI-System Program and a proud member of the Filipino Inventors Society
Multipurpose Cooperative (FISMPC), which formally granted its endorsement to
support and advance the BC AGRI-System program’s implementation. Bayubay shared
that the BC AGRI-System was conceptualized and developed during the height of
the pandemic as a response to the growing need for accessible, efficient,
climate-resilient, and sustainable agricultural technologies tailored
specifically for Filipino farmers and communities.
“Our commitment is to help transform the agricultural ecosystem through modern, affordable, and locally developed technologies,” Bayubay stated. “Unlike imported systems that often become expensive due to consultancy fees and after-sales costs, the BC AGRI-System is proudly homegrown — designed, engineered, and innovated by Filipino experts and inventors working collaboratively here and abroad.”
He further explained that because the software,
firmware, Internet of Things (IoT) systems, and smart farming technologies are
locally engineered, the overall implementation cost becomes significantly lower
and more accessible for Filipino farmers, cooperatives, and communities
aspiring to adopt modern agricultural innovations.
The BC AGRI-System continues to gain momentum
through strategic collaborations, including its partnership with Philippine Reclamation
Authority(PRA), which aims to integrate the BC AGRI-System SMART Farming
Learning Program, Climate SMART System, and Bagsakan Ecosystem into existing
hydroponics program and food security initiatives.
Once fully implemented, the program will introduce
advanced agricultural mapping systems and value-chain analytics capable of
tracking agricultural activities from production to market distribution. This
data-driven ecosystem is expected to help decision-makers identify
high-performing agricultural products, optimize supply chains, improve market
forecasting, and determine which regions are best suited for specific crops and
agricultural ventures.
Also expressing strong support for the initiative
was Romelen T. Tresvalles, who conveyed openness to deeper collaboration and
coordination with the BC AGRI-System Program. Tresvalles highlighted the
importance of connecting the initiative with PRA’s food security and sustainability
programs to benefit communities throughout the National Capital Region and
beyond.
Secretary Solidum likewise expressed DOST’s
commitment to coordinating closely with BC AGRI-System and PRA in support of
the initiative, recognizing its potential for nationwide implementation and its
significant contribution to strengthening the country’s agricultural resilience
and food security agenda.
The collaborative meeting was also attended by
distinguished leaders and stakeholders including Cong. Jonathan Dela Cruz,
Atty. Renato Cuyco, Franz A. De Leon - Director IV (ASTI), Elmer Peramo - DOST
Assistant Scientist, and Miriam N. Baking – EVP BB 88 Solutions.
The collaboration between DOST and BB 88 Solutions
marks a promising step toward a smarter, greener, and more sustainable future
for Philippine agriculture — one powered by Filipino innovation, driven by
technology, and dedicated to uplifting the lives of farmers and communities
nationwide.
