TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 2 is stepping up efforts to protect workers across Cagayan Valley by strengthening workplace safety standards and promoting mental health and well-being.
Assistant Regional Director Remedios Vegim-Teves said the agency continues to enforce labor laws, including proper wages, benefits, and humane working hours, while ensuring occupational safety and health compliance in workplaces.
She stressed that workers face not only physical risks but also psychosocial hazards, such as:
“These conditions can lead to stress, which affects not only mental health but also workplace safety and productivity,” Vegim-Teves said.

The agency also emphasized the need for supportive supervision, fair treatment, and strict enforcement of policies against workplace harassment and bullying. Employers are advised to establish safe reporting systems and ensure workers are protected from retaliation.
DOLE conducts regular inspections of establishments and responds promptly to complaints. Businesses found violating labor laws must correct deficiencies or face possible penalties.
