Bacolod City police shift to electric patrol vehicles

Bacolod City – The Bacolod City Police Office is adopting electric vehicles (EVs) as part of its effort to reduce carbon emissions and improve operational efficiency.

The city government purchased 10 EV units worth PHP14 million and distributed them across police stations. Mayor Greg Gasataya said the move supports the modernization of law enforcement while lowering fuel expenses.

The electric patrol vehicles are expected to enhance police visibility, speed up response times, and ensure continuous mobility without relying heavily on fuel. Each unit can travel up to 490 kilometers on a full charge and can be recharged within five to seven hours—enough to support daily patrol operations.

In addition, the vehicles are equipped with modern features such as 360-degree cameras, sensors, airbags, and keyless entry to ensure safety and reliability for officers in the field.

Police officials welcomed the initiative, noting that the transition to electric mobility marks a significant step toward sustainable and technology-driven policing.
