Google rolls out AI-powered Google Chrome features in PH

MANILA – Google has launched a new set of artificial intelligence upgrades for its Google Chrome browser in the Philippines, introducing a built-in assistant powered by its latest Gemini 3.1 model.

The update, initially available on desktop and iOS, integrates a personalized AI assistant directly into the browser through a side panel. This feature allows users to summarize long articles, generate ideas, create quizzes, and answer contextual questions without leaving the page they are viewing.

Google said the new system also connects seamlessly with its ecosystem, including Gmail, Google Maps, and YouTube. This enables users to perform tasks such as composing emails, organizing travel plans, or comparing products across multiple tabs within a single interface.

Another highlight is the integration of visual AI through the Nano Banana 2 model, which allows users to edit and transform images using simple text prompts. The feature can be used for creative tasks such as planning interior designs or visualizing product ideas.

To address safety concerns, Google emphasized its “security by design” approach, including safeguards against threats like prompt injection and requiring user confirmation before performing sensitive actions.

The rollout in the Philippines is part of a broader regional expansion, as Google continues to enhance browser capabilities and integrate AI into everyday digital experiences.
