MANILA – The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has decided not to impose a nationwide ban on Roblox after the platform committed to implementing stronger safety measures aimed at protecting children.
The agency said the decision aligns with the directive of Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to enhance digital platform security and safeguard Filipino youth. During a meeting with the Cybercrime Investigation Coordinating Center (CICC), law enforcement groups, and private sector representatives, Roblox presented plans to improve monitoring, reporting tools, and age-appropriate content controls.
Roblox also announced an information campaign scheduled for April 12, 2026, which will educate parents on how to use the platform’s safety features. These tools include screen-time limits, purchase restrictions, content filtering, and options for selecting age-appropriate experiences.
Earlier, the DICT warned that the platform could face a ban due to reports involving child safety concerns such as grooming and inappropriate interactions. However, with the newly proposed safeguards, authorities emphasized that online safety is a shared responsibility among platforms, government agencies, and families.
