MANILA – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) have launched the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) in Laguna to bring primary health services closer to Filipino workers.
The program was rolled out on Tuesday at Yazaki-Torres Manufacturing Inc. in Calamba City, led by DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma and PhilHealth Acting President and CEO Edwin Mercado.
With the tagline “Malayo ka sa Sakit,” YAKAP encourages employees to undergo preventive health consultations even without symptoms, supporting the government’s Universal Health Care (UHC) agenda under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
“This is part of our settings-based registration approach, where PhilHealth brings services directly to offices, schools, or communities. Our goal is to expand coverage and make services faster and more accessible,” Mercado said, adding that the program also aims to improve the quality of care.
Laguesma emphasized that health is the foundation of a strong and productive workforce, noting that many Filipino employees still lack sufficient access to medical services despite devoting a third of their lives to work.
Through YAKAP, DOLE and PhilHealth committed to ensuring wider and more equitable access to quality health care for workers nationwide.
