MANILA – The Department of Tourism (DOT) has inaugurated the first-ever Philippine Tourism Awards, recognizing individuals, enterprises, and institutions that have shaped and elevated the country’s tourism industry.
Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco hailed the awardees as trailblazers who have set global standards while embodying Filipino hospitality.
“All of you here are being honored because you have raised the standards of our industry and proven that Filipino hospitality is our gift to the world,” Frasco said during the ceremony. “You are the bearers of the good of our country, showing through your work your compassion, your creativity, and your grace.”
Seventeen enterprises received Tourism Pillar Awards for laying the foundations of Philippine tourism and sustaining excellence through decades of service, while 30 individual pioneers were honored for their contributions, including three posthumous awardees.
Special Pillar Excellence Awards were given to Philippine Airlines, The Manila Hotel, the Philippine Travel Agencies Association, and the University of the Philippines Asian Institute of Tourism for their historic and transformative roles.
Additional awards recognized excellence across tourism categories, including transport, tour operations, accommodation, wellness, gastronomy, faith-based destinations, and eco-tourism. Cebu Pacific Air and Megaworld Hotels & Resorts also received Tourism Industry Excellence Awards.
Awardees were selected through a rigorous process of nominations and deliberations by a panel of experts, consumers, and industry leaders.
The landmark event not only celebrated the country’s tourism pioneers but also underscored DOT’s commitment to honoring the institutions and individuals who continue to drive Philippine tourism forward.
