MANILA – Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Japan can look forward to stronger reintegration assistance as the Philippine government expands its National Reintegration Network, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac announced on Wednesday.
In a meeting with around 80 Filipino community leaders in Tokyo on Tuesday, Cacdac emphasized that the program is designed to ensure a smooth and sustainable transition for returning OFWs and their families.
“The DMW is your home in government, and we will be with you in all stages of your overseas employment,” Cacdac said, reaffirming the Department of Migrant Workers’ role as a partner for Filipinos abroad.
Beyond reintegration, he highlighted the government’s wider commitment to OFW welfare—citing strong bilateral partnerships with host countries, the availability of the AKSYON Fund, and the rollout of digital platforms that streamline overseas employment services.
“Nothing beats contributing to the development of our beloved country. Even though you are here in Japan, the President deeply appreciates that you continue to think of home. We want to help you in that journey, and we will provide comprehensive support so that your reintegration with your families is productive and sustainable,” he assured.
Cacdac is currently in Tokyo to participate in the 15th Roundtable on Labor Migration in Asia, organized by the Asian Development Bank Institute, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the International Labour Organization (ILO). The conference focuses on strengthening integration and reintegration measures for migrant workers across Asia and the Pacific.
