Frasco Invites Bollywood Executives to Film in the Philippines

NEW DELHI, India – Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco has invited India’s film executives to consider the Philippines as a premier filming destination, highlighting its diverse landscapes, rich culture, and strong government support for film tourism.

On Aug. 6, Frasco met with representatives from Bollylands.com and the National Film Development Corporation of India to promote the Philippines as an ideal backdrop for Bollywood productions. She presented the country’s array of filming locations and outlined both fiscal and non-fiscal incentives available to international filmmakers.

“Film tourism is a priority product. India is the benchmark for film and film tourism, and we look to forging partnerships and collaborations to pitch the Philippines as a viable film tourism destination for India,” Frasco said.

The Philippines has previously hosted international productions, including The Bourne Legacy, Almost Paradise, and the Survivor series, while its culinary scene recently featured in Somebody Feed Phil.

To attract foreign productions, the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) offers incentives such as up to seven years of Income Tax Holiday and duty-free importation of film equipment. Non-fiscal support includes assistance in location scouting, permit processing, and coordination with local government units through the DOT’s newly created Office of Film and Sports Tourism (OFST).

Frasco emphasized that the OFST works to ensure productions highlight the Philippines’ stunning destinations while integrating local culture, cuisine, festivals, and crafts into global storytelling.

She also pointed out key advantages for international crews, such as seamless communication with the Philippines’ English-speaking population and access to highly skilled local production professionals.

Improved connectivity further strengthens the Philippines’ appeal. Starting Oct. 1, Air India will offer direct flights from New Delhi to Manila five times a week, cutting travel time to just six hours. Additionally, Indian nationals may now enter the Philippines visa-free for up to 14 days, with certain visa holders eligible for stays of up to 30 days.

“With direct flights, visa-free access, English proficiency, and world-class locations, the Philippines offers an incredible opportunity for collaboration with India’s dynamic film industry,” Frasco said.
