479 Dinagat town residents get food-for-work aid

BUTUAN CITY – A total of 479 beneficiaries from three barangays in Libjo, Dinagat Islands, received family food packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the local government unit (LGU) through the Food for Work program.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Libjo LGU said a total of 1,437 food packs were released to beneficiaries from Barangays Doña Helen, Magsaysay, and Arellano on Tuesday. This distribution followed their completion of six days of community work in their respective localities.

“The food packs were delivered directly to the beneficiaries in their barangays upon instructions of Mayor Melody Llamera Compasivo,” the LGU added.

On the same day, 95 rice farmers from Barangays General Aguinaldo and Plaridel also received 135 bags of certified rice seeds. This initiative aims to support the town's rice farmers and ensure increased production as the planting season begins.

Mayor Compasivo and Municipal Agriculture Officer Lope Loverio led the distribution of seeds to the farmer-beneficiaries.
