MANILA — In a bold and historic push to solidify the Philippines as a global esports powerhouse, leaders of the ESWF (Esports World Federation) and top government sports officials concluded a high-impact meeting yesterday at the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) headquarters. The discussions centered on the upcoming ESWF ESPORTS MOBA World Cup 2026, with the official kick-off event set for March 1, 2025 at the iconic Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
The
meeting brought together some of the most influential figures shaping the
future of Philippine esports: Arniel Gutierrez, President and Founder of
ESWF; Patrick Gregorio, Chairman of the PSC; Engr. Reynaldo C.
Sanchez, ESWF Chairman of the Board, Co-Founder, and President of Asian
Television Content Corporation; and Henry V. Bayubay, President and CEO
of BB 88 Advertising and Digital Solutions Inc.
Thousands of Players, 897 Barangays, One Massive
Esports Movement
The March
1 kick-off promises to be the biggest grassroots esports gathering in
Manila’s history, with thousands of players from all 897 barangays set
to participate. The Manila Sports Council has expressed full support, aiming to
showcase the city as a flourishing hub of youth talent and digital competition.
PSC Chairman Gregorio Champions Esports Tourism
PSC
Chairman Patrick Gregorio reaffirmed the agency’s full support for the
international preparation efforts of the ESWF MOBA World Cup 2026, noting that
esports is now at the forefront of sports tourism growth.
“This
World Cup initiative represents a new era for Philippine sports. Esports is the
next frontier for tourism, youth empowerment, and national branding,” Gregorio emphasized.
New Homes for Philippine Esports Proposed

visionary move, Chairman Gregorio proposed the establishment of permanent
esports development venues in two prime locations:
