PBBM Urges Unified National Effort to Strengthen Climate Resilience

MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to decisive climate action, highlighting the country’s goal of building “a climate-resilient and environmentally sound nation.”

In a statement released by the Climate Change Commission (CCC) on Wednesday, President Marcos said the annual observance of Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week (CCC Week) 2025 serves as a platform for policymakers, scientists, private institutions, and communities to align national priorities with global climate commitments and sustainable development goals.

“As Chairperson of the Climate Change Commission, I reaffirm our determination to confront the challenges of climate change with decisive action, especially as we continue to recover from recent calamities,” he said in a video message.

The President emphasized the role of all sectors in promoting resilience through responsible resource management and the integration of climate intelligence in planning and decision-making. He cited government initiatives such as the National Adaptation Plan, the Nationally Determined Contribution Implementation Plan, and expanded programs in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and climate finance as pillars for a secure and inclusive future.

With this year’s CCC Week theme, Makabagong Kilusan Para sa Klima at Kinabukasan (Innovative Movement for Climate and the Future), President Marcos urged Filipinos to actively participate in national efforts to enhance climate resilience, framing climate action as both a civic responsibility and a path to long-term prosperity.

“As we realize our vision of a Bagong Pilipinas, let us uphold climate governance, protect the beauty and bounty of our land, and safeguard the welfare of future generations,” he said.

CCC Vice Chairperson and Executive Director Robert E.A. Borje commended the President’s leadership, noting that under his administration, the CCC has completed key climate policy frameworks and submissions to the UNFCCC, including the country’s first National Adaptation Plan, updated Greenhouse Gas Inventories, and the Biennial Transparency Report.

President Marcos concluded with a message of solidarity and hope, encouraging meaningful engagement throughout the week’s activities.
