D&L Industries Sees Strong Growth as New Batangas Plant Expands Export Capacity

MANILA – Specialty food and chemical manufacturer D&L Industries remains optimistic about its business outlook for the year despite rising coconut oil prices and global economic uncertainties.

In the first nine months of the year, D&L recorded a net income of ₱1.95 billion, an 8-percent increase from ₱1.81 billion in the same period last year, company president and chief executive officer Alvin Lao said in an online briefing hosted by the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) on Friday.

Lao attributed the company’s steady performance to its long-standing operational resilience.
“Yes, there's a lot of volatility, but we've been in business for over 60 years. It’s part and parcel of how we manage operations. If you look at our bottom line, we’ve been performing quite steadily,” he said.

A major contributor to this resilience is D&L’s newest manufacturing plant located in the First Industrial Township–Special Economic Zone in Tanauan City, Batangas, which opened in 2023. The facility sits on a 26-hectare property—twice the size of their former plant in Quezon City—enabling the company to significantly boost production and address previous capacity constraints.

“With this expanded capacity, we expect stronger export growth over the next several years,” Lao said.

D&L currently exports to markets across North America, Europe, the Asia-Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East, and the United States. Lao noted that US-bound shipments constitute a relatively small portion of their total exports, limiting the impact of new US trade policies on the company.

Exports delivered a strong performance in the first nine months of 2025, rising 22 percent to ₱1.9 billion. Domestic operations also grew, with profits increasing 8 percent to ₱3.4 billion.

With its larger Batangas plant now fully operational, D&L is ramping up participation in international trade shows and exhibitions to expand its global market reach.
“This was something we couldn’t fully pursue before due to limited capacity. Now that we have the capability, we are actively working to grow our exports,” Lao added.
