MANILA – The Philippines continues to make waves in global tourism as it earns nine prestigious nominations at the 32nd Annual World Travel Awards (WTA), the Department of Tourism (DOT) announced Friday.
The DOT said the international recognition further reinforces the country’s reputation as one of the world’s most captivating and sought-after travel destinations, highlighting the Philippines’ consistent excellence in hospitality, sustainability, and cultural pride.
“These nominations reflect the strength of our people’s hospitality, creativity, and resilience, and the world’s continued confidence in the Philippines as a destination of beauty and hope,” said Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco.
Frasco emphasized that the honor serves as an inspiration for continued collaboration with government and private partners to strengthen tourism infrastructure, digital connectivity, and accessibility across the archipelago.
“As we continue to push for stronger infrastructure, connectivity, and accessibility in partnership with other agencies, we take these recognitions as a shared encouragement to keep building up our country together,” she added.
The Philippines is vying for top honors in several major global categories, including:
World’s Leading Dive Destination 2025 (seeking a seventh consecutive win)
World’s Leading Island Destination 2025
World’s Leading Beach Destination 2025, a title last won in 2022 and 2023
On the destination level, Manila is nominated as World’s Leading City Destination 2025, while Intramuros returns as a contender for World’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2025.
Boracay competes for World’s Leading Luxury Island Destination 2025, Cebu for World’s Leading Wedding Destination 2025, and Clark Freeport Zone—hailed for its growing MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) facilities—for World’s Leading Meeting & Conference Destination 2025.
The DOT itself is nominated for World’s Leading Tourist Board 2025, a recognition that underscores its leadership in promoting the Philippines’ global tourism brand.
Adding to the country’s pride, 16 private tourism establishments from the Philippines also earned individual nominations across multiple categories.
Secretary Frasco called on Filipinos worldwide to show their support by voting for the Philippines at the World Travel Awards website (www.worldtravelawards.com/vote) until October 26, 2025.
“These honors belong to every Filipino whose warmth and dedication make our islands truly world-class. Let’s vote and bring these awards home once again,” Frasco urged.
