MANILA – Gilas Pilipinas Youth completed a sweep of the FIBA U16 Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers elimination round after beating Malaysia, 96-61, at Bren Z. Guiao Sports Complex in San Fernando, Pampanga on Thursday night.
The LA Tenorio-mentored squad was all fired up from the get-go, posting a 28-12 lead in the opening quarter.
Gilas followed it up with a 27-point second quarter for a 55-29 lead at halftime.
The complexion of the game didn’t change much as the host never let up the rest of the way.
Six Gilas players scored in double figures, led by Jeremiah Antolin and Travis Pascual who logged 15 points apiece.
Evaraigne Cruz added 14 while Prince Cariño registered a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds.

The win gave the nationals a 5-0 card and a trip to the final round on Friday against No. 2 seed Indonesia (4-1).
Gilas handed Indonesia its lone loss in the tournament on Wednesday night, 77-68.
