Fuel prices up for 2 straight weeks

PNA

MANILA – Motorists will face another round of fuel price hikes this week, as oil companies announced increases due to rising international costs.

In separate advisories, Caltex, Cleanfuel, Petro Gazz, PTT, Seaoil, and Shell said they will raise gasoline prices by PHP1.35 per liter and diesel prices by the same amount starting Tuesday (April 30).

Caltex, Seaoil, and Shell also announced an increase in kerosene prices by PHP0.80 per liter.

This marks the second consecutive week of pump price hikes.

According to the Department of Energy (DOE), the latest adjustments are largely driven by supply concerns stemming from new US sanctions targeting Iran’s oil shipping network, tightening global supply and pushing prices higher.

Following last week's increases, the DOE reported that gasoline prices have risen by PHP2.30 per liter and diesel by PHP2.85 per liter since the start of the year. Kerosene, however, still reflects a net decrease of PHP1.80 per liter year-to-date.
