Camiguin now integrated with eGovPH app, eLGU system – DICT

PNA

MANILA  The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on Thursday lauded the local government of Camiguin for its integration with the eGovPH mobile app and the eLGU system.

The eGovPH app serves as a centralized platform for national and local government services while the eLGU system eliminates inefficiencies in business registration, tax payments, and other government transactions.

The DICT’s push for a digital government is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s commitment to modernizing public service and uplifting the lives of Filipinos.

“Camiguin now joins the 920 LGUs (local government units) nationwide that have adopted the eLGU System, strengthening the country’s push for seamless digital governance,” DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy said in a statement.

Uy also lauded Camiguin for setting a standard for digitalization, becoming the first province to achieve full electronic Business One-Stop-Shop (eBOSS) compliance in all its five municipalities --Sagay, Catarman, Mahinog, Mambajao, and Guinsiliban.

He said the launch of the eGovPH app and the eLGU system in Camiguin on Feb. 26 was more than adopting technology, but is about “redefining governance.”

Uy said the launch of eGovPH in the province is a declaration that government services must be efficient, accessible, and one that truly serves the needs of the people.

“A business owner can now secure permits in minutes instead of weeks. A senior citizen no longer needs to travel far for document processing. A student can conveniently access essential services online. This is what digital transformation looks like. Practical, immediate, and life-changing,” he said.

“The government is accelerating efforts to make governance more transparent, efficient, and accessible. The President has made it clear that digitalization is not just an option but a necessity in delivering real solutions to the people.”

To date, the eGovPH app has surpassed 10 million downloads, raising the country’s digitalization status from 89th place in 2022 to 73rd in 2024 in the United Nations E-Government Development Index.
